OHWOW Book Club

New Yorkers are accustomed to small spaces so OHWOW Book Club isn’t anything very out of the ordinary, except of course for its superb selection and sense of style. Located on Waverley Place in the heart of the West Village, this underground gem offers an unusual array of books, vinyl, and various other products that you may not find anywhere else. As an offshoot project of Los Angeles/Miami-based OHWOW Gallery, the highly curated merchandise tends to be staff-selected or produced, with limited-quantity books and consigned items and pieces from the gallery’s circle of friends. Bill Powers, co-owner of Half Gallery in New York, offered a signed copy of a Jasper Johns’ book and a 1987 Interview magazine to the shop, and the man who painted the sign out front was apparently KAWS’s assistant, so you can be sure to find something curious when you come.
