There is no question that the Thonet name has long been etched into the annals of design. From Michael Thonet’s radically new bentwood technique which, in 1850, exploded onto the market in the shape of chair Nr. 1, to the infinitely lauded chair Nr. 209 about which Le Corbusier gallantly proclaimed that “never before has anything been created that is more elegant and better in its conception,” the Thonet name has for centuries stood for high-quality, innovative, and elegant furniture.

It continually looks out into the world for new designers and ideas while carefully maintaining the essence of the brand. Most recently, Thonet collaborated with Swedish design trio Front to create Hideout, the enveloping armchair that is at once classic and idiosyncratic with undeniable elegance.
